  • 工作出了問題,我要想辦法;
  • 關係出了問題,我要解決;
  • 孩子有狀況,我要改變;
  • 別人誤會我,我要解釋;

  • 我有能力,但我不靠能力作主;
  • 我有方法,但我不堅持自己的方法;

Key Verse Matthew 5:5 (NKJV) “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

Introduction

Many times, the reason we feel exhausted is not simply because we have too much to do, but because we feel that too many things depend on us.

When there is a problem at work, we think we must fix it.
When there is tension in a relationship, we think we must resolve it.
When our children face difficulties, we think we must change the situation.
When people misunderstand us, we feel we must explain ourselves.
When things do not go the way we expect, we try to pull everything back under our control.

Slowly, we discover that the more we try to hold onto, the more tired our hearts become.

Today Jesus says:

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

These words echo Psalm 37.

In Psalm 37, the righteous see the wicked prospering and the unjust appearing to succeed. In that kind of situation, it is natural to become frustrated, angry, anxious, or to try to take matters into our own hands.

But Psalm 37 repeatedly reminds us:

Do not fret.
Trust in the Lord.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

Then it says:

📖 Psalm 37:11
“But the meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.”

So when Jesus says, “Blessed are the meek,” He is not teaching us to become passive, weak, or without conviction.

Biblical meekness means having strength, but placing that strength under God’s authority; having our own ideas, but not insisting that our way is the only way; having ability, but refusing to depend on ourselves to control everything.

Very often, we cannot let go because we are not truly at rest.

We are afraid that if we let go, we will lose something.
We are afraid that if we stop controlling, things will fall apart.
We are afraid that if we do not fight for ourselves, no one will.

But today Jesus leads us onto a different path.

Not a path of doing nothing,
but a path of learning to say:

I can rest assured, because God is still in control.
I can let go, because I do not have to carry everything by myself.

  1. First, stop trying to carry everything by yourself

📖 “Blessed are the meek…”

If we want to learn how to rest, the first step is not simply telling ourselves, “Don’t worry.”

Very often, we cannot rest because deep inside we believe:

“This all depends on me.”

I must find a solution.
I must control the situation.
I must make this work.
I must make sure everything turns out the way I think it should.

We may never say these words out loud, but in our hearts we are carrying a weight that is too heavy for us.

Slowly, we move beyond responsibility and begin carrying things God never asked us to carry.

We start thinking:

“If I don’t do it, everything will fall apart.”
“If I don’t control it, others will get it wrong.”
“If I don’t insist, I will lose.”

But the first step of meekness is to admit:

I am not God.

There are things I can do,
but there are things I cannot control.

There are responsibilities that belong to me,
but the final outcome does not belong to me.

There are people I can encourage,
but I cannot change their hearts.

So today, learn to stop.

Not to stop being responsible,
but to stop putting yourself in God’s place.

You can say:

“Lord, I admit that I cannot control everything.”

When you acknowledge your limitations, your heart begins to make room to see God again.

  1. Look again and remember that God is still in control

📖 Psalm 37:5
“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.”

Once we stop looking only at ourselves, we can begin to look again at God.

True rest does not come because the situation has already been solved.

If we can only rest after everything is settled, that is not faith. That is simply relief after seeing the result.

Faith says:

The situation has not changed yet, but I still trust God.

There may still be no answer,
but God is still in control.

That person may still not have changed,
but God is still working.

I may still not see the way forward,
but God already sees the road ahead.

Many times, anxiety grows because our eyes stay fixed on the problem.

The bigger the problem becomes in our eyes,
the smaller God seems in our hearts.

But when we turn our eyes back to God, our hearts begin to breathe again.

We remember:

God knows what I do not know.
God sees what I cannot see.
God can do what I cannot do.

So resting is not just positive thinking.

Resting is a decision of faith:

I believe God is still on the throne.

I will still do what I am responsible to do,
but I will no longer treat myself as the final source of security.

Real peace is not saying:

“Everything is under my control.”

Real peace is saying:

“Even when it is not under my control, it is still under God’s control.”

  1. Place what you are holding back into God’s hands

📖 “For they shall inherit the earth.”

When a person truly rests in God, then he can truly let go.

Many times, we say:

“Lord, I give this to You.”

But inside, we are still holding tightly onto it.

I must get this result.
I must make this person understand me.
I must prove that I am right.
This must happen according to my timing.

So letting go is not simply saying a prayer of surrender.

Real surrender means giving God even our “must.”

Let go of my way.
Let go of my timetable.
Let go of my pride.
Let go of my hurt.
Let go of my need to control the outcome.

This does not mean we have no principles, and it does not mean we give up our responsibilities.

It means we can say:

“Lord, I have done what I should do. Now I place the outcome back into Your hands.”

Jesus says:

“They shall inherit the earth.”

This is one of the surprising principles of God’s kingdom.

We think that if we hold on tighter, we will lose less.

But many times, by holding on too tightly, the first thing we lose is the peace in our hearts.

Anxiety takes one part.
Bitterness takes another.
Control takes another.
Fear takes another.

In the end, we may still have everything on the outside,
but inside there is no quiet place left.

So today, “inheriting the earth” also reminds us:

Do not lose the ground in your heart while trying to hold onto everything around you.

When you truly let go,
you are not throwing your life away.

You are moving your life from your own hands into hands that are far more trustworthy.

Conclusion

Today Jesus says:

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

True meekness is not weakness.

It means:

I have ability, but I do not let my ability become my lord.
I have my own ideas, but I do not insist on my own way.
I have rights, but I am willing to place the final authority back into God’s hands.

So today, let us take these three steps:

First, stop trying to carry everything by yourself.
Admit: I am not God. I cannot control everything.

Second, look again and remember that God is still in control.
I do not wait until everything is solved before I rest. I rest because God has never lost control.

Third, place what you are holding back into God’s hands.
Not only the situation, but also the “must” in your heart.

Today, there may be something you are holding onto very tightly.

It may be your family.
It may be your children.
It may be your work.
It may be your ministry.
It may be a relationship.
It may be a hurt.
It may be an outcome you desperately want to control.

Today, let us say to God again:

“Lord, I rest assured because You are still in control.
Lord, I let go because my life is in Your hands.”

Reflection

Ask yourself quietly today:

  1. What is one thing I keep feeling “must depend on me”?
  2. In this situation, have I placed myself in God’s position by trying to control an outcome that only He can control?
  3. If I truly believe God is still in control, what can I let go of today?
  4. What is filling the ground of my heart right now—peace, or anxiety; trust, or control; rest, or fear?

Remember these two truths today:

Rest assured, because God is still in control.
Let go, because your life is in God’s hands.
