James 1:12-18

James was Jesus’ brother, after Jesus died and resurrected, he witnessed all the miracles and he put his faith in Jesus. He became a follower of Christ, a disciple, and an apostle. He wrote letters to encourage all the followers of Jesus. After Jesus resurrected, the Roman government and also the Jewish elders were chasing after the followers of Jesus, so a lot of people left Jerusalem.

James knew that when situation and environment change, people’s faith would be shaken, and they would face a lot of challenges and temptations. Therefore he wrote the letters to encourage them. It’s the same with our lives, everyday we face temptations and trials, because Satan wants to put us out from Christ. Satan knows we are the followers of Christ and we have the power to shake the devil’s kingdom. So the devil wants to first shake our faith and hope. But we must know, we are to receive the eternal crown of life of God, as followers of Christ, who have been through trials and temptations.

Temptations are not form God, only the devil will tempt us, God will take us to the truth, the way and the life. When we have dissatisfaction in our lives, then we can be easily tempted, by money, by power, or by love. But love is never an exchange, true love can never be exchanged. As parents we know that we love our children no matter what. In marriage is the same, two people offering their lives to one another, it’s never an exchange. Love can never be satisfied no matter how old we are we will always hunger for love, and our only source of love that can completely satisfy us is God. Trust in God, we will feel loved and we will be blessed.
