Rev Daniel Xi An Poon
A lot of things happened in the past two months of 2024, as Christians how do we act with all the wars, earthquakes, global boiling, famine, economic crisis…? We may think we are ok, we may think we are safe, but we are actually in the midst of all these things around the world, the economy has already affected us greatly, so what’s next?
We must be reminded, as the followers of Christ, to be alert and to always find strength in God. Do we know where our strength comes from? It’s not from our experiences, it’s not about what we have, but it’s from God. We must have a relationship with God, when God is with us then whom shall be against us? In March we talk about security, it’s a big topic in the Bible. In Psalm 23, David knew everything was in God’s hands. When God is with us, we can be secure, everything in our lives is about God. We are all on this life journey, so how can we walk this journey in security?
Isaiah 56:3-8
“Do not let the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak, saying, the Lord has utterly separated me from His people; nor let the eunuch say, Here I am, a dry tree. For thus says the Lord: To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, even to them I will give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and holds fast My covenant—Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations. The Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, yet I will gather to him others besides those who are gathered to him.”
Do Not Limit Our Own Destiny
Here God tells us not to limit our destiny, God has created us more than how we see ourselves right now. The world and the past experience might say otherwise, but only from God’s eyes we can see our true self. Do not limit ourselves, do not listen to the lies, but to trust in God. Listen to who God says we are, not what others say about is, not even what we say about ourselves. We have a future, we have hope, and we can live out our destiny!
To Discern, To Keep, To Believe
What does God say about us? When we keep His Sabbath, when we focus on God and on His Word. God created us to have a relationship with Him. He loves us, He wants to spend time with us, He wants us to talk to Him about our feelings and our thoughts. But we are so easy to focus on the things we have to do, and we often put God last.
Our relationship with God should be in our top priority, and do what God pleases. Everything may be good to do, but what should we do to please God? Do we really know God? Do we really understand how God does wonders in our lives? When we do, then it will be easy to know what God wants us to do and what pleases God. The truth is, we don’t even know ourselves well, but God knows, and when we do what pleases God, He will make sure we are safe and we receive the best.
To Believe God Prepares
The temple of prayer means a place for us to have a relationship with God. In the temple of prayer, we have everything, because God knows everything about us. In the temple of prayer, we will lack nothing. We don’t earn what we have but we are given freely by God. He is our source and He can continue to supply for us.
