Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

In the late 1800s, a young girl from Ireland named Amy Carmichael dreamed of becoming a missionary to China. She deeply loved Jesus and was ready to go, but just as everything was prepared, her health failed. This unexpected disappointment was painful and confusing. However, God had a different plan. He later led her to India, where she began a lifelong ministry rescuing children from suffering. In 1901, she started the Dohnavur Fellowship and spent over 50 years serving those in need. Looking back, Amy realized that God’s plan was far greater than the one she had imagined. This reminds us that even when we cannot see the full path, God is faithful to guide us if we trust Him.

The Scripture from Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” This is a powerful truth that speaks to every believer. First, we are reminded to let go of our own understanding and choose simple trust. Often, we believe we can make the best choices using our own logic and experience. But God’s Word tells us not to rely on what we know. Our understanding is limited — we can’t see the future or control outcomes. Trusting God means putting His wisdom above ours, not by ignoring reason, but by choosing faith first. One helpful step is to begin each day with prayer, surrendering our plans to God before making decisions.

Second, we are encouraged to acknowledge God in all our ways. This doesn’t just mean big life choices like careers or moving cities — it includes small daily matters, too. To “acknowledge Him” means to invite Him into every part of life: our work, our health, our families, and our friendships. When we ask for His will in everything, we give Him space to lead us step by step.

Third, we must believe that God will personally direct our path. When we trust Him with all our hearts and stop relying on ourselves, He promises to guide us. Often the road ahead isn’t clear, but God gives just enough light for the next step. Faith means taking that step even when we don’t see the whole journey. When life feels uncertain, we are challenged to wait patiently and trust God’s timing, instead of trying to push forward on our own.

Following God’s leading is not always easy. At times, we must let go of what feels safe and familiar. Sometimes, we wait in confusion, not knowing why certain things happen. Other times, fear may stop us from trusting God’s better plan. But today, God is gently calling: “Trust Me with all your heart. Don’t lean on your own understanding. I will guide your path.” If you are facing a hard decision, struggling to let go, or growing tired in the waiting, this is your moment to respond. Let us pray with you and encourage you. God is faithful. He will never leave you — and He will surely lead you into His best.
