V1 Let Not Our Heart Be Troubled 心裡不要憂愁

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”

「你們心裡不要憂愁，你們信神，也當信我。」

How to fully rely on the Lord? To do God’s Will or our own will? We thought we know what we are doing, we thought we have planned out our lives for ourselves, but do we really know God’s Will? Do we really rely on the Lord? Jesus has led the way, do we follow Him? Or do we choose what we want to do and what we don’t want to do? Jesus wants us to stop worrying about our future, only by trust in Him, follow Him, rely on Him, then we can continue this journey of faith.

V2-4 The Lord Prepares for Us 主為我們預備

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

「在我父的家裡有許多住處，若是沒有，我就早已告訴你們了，我去原是為你們預備地方去。 我若去為你們預備了地方，就必再來接你們到我那裡去，我在哪裡，叫你們也在哪裡。 我往哪裡去你們知道，那條路你們也知道。」

Do we believe that everything we need to know Jesus will tell us? We always want to know in advance, we want to know why things happen or what are going to happen, but Jesus wants us to be still. He is here to heal us and guide us, but we always want to solve our problems in our own ways. We don’t need to know more, we only need to know what is told to us, God knows how much we can take and He knows how far we can go. Do we believe that God will prepare for us?

V5-7

“Thomas said to Him, Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way? Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

「多馬對他說：主啊，我們不知道你往哪裡去，怎麼知道那條路呢？耶穌說：我就是道路、真理、生命。若不藉著我，沒有人能到父那裡去。你們若認識我，也就認識我的父。從今以後，你們認識他，並且已經看見他。」

Do we really know Jesus? We might have read a lot of books about the Bible, we might be in the church for a long time, we might have heard of a lot of sermons… but do we really know? Thomas was with Jesus for three years but he still didn’t know the way. We must humble ourselves and admit that we don’t know, and He will lead our way, guide us, and be with us. Jesus did not rebuke Thomas, He patiently taught Thomas and the rest of the disciples, that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
