V1-2 Do Not Live in the Knowledge of Good and Evil

“Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”

What is good and what is evil? The world’s definitions of good and evil are different to the definitions of the Kingdom of God. In God’s eyes, doing good is to do God’s Will, and doing evil is to go against the Will of God. There are many people, who call themselves the followers of God, but they are not really doing the Will of God. When we see these people, we might be envy, we might be upset, and we might be confused about the Will of God. In today’s Psalm, God reminds us that He knows it all and He sees it all, He wants us to act righteously, which is to walk in the way, the truth, and the life of God.

It’s easy for us to compare ourselves with others, and when we compare, we might feel life is unfair, when we see the success of others, we might feel sorry for ourselves. But God’s Word comforts us, and He also reminds us, the green grass might soon wither away, if we cannot continue to follow the Will of God. He is the only One, Who can give us security, as long as we live under the Tree of Life, enjoy His creations. God created the Garden of Eden for people to enjoy, but can we really enjoy everything God has created for us and given to us? Or do we still feel we want more?

Have we tried doing nothing but just enjoy the nature? God created the whole world for us to enjoy, but often we just focus on what we have to do, what we must do, and what we must achieve. We fear that when we stop in one place, we will not be able to go anyway. But in God’s Kingdom, it’s different to what the world teaches us. Sometimes God wants us to simple stop and enjoy, just follow Him, and He will open a way for us, in the place that we can never imagine.

V3-4 Simply Delight in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

All we need to do is to trust, not in or feelings, not in the environment, not in others, not in money, not in our experiences, not in our qualifications… but trust in the Lord. David was only a young shepherd, then he became a wanted criminal to Saul, then the leader of the bandits in the cave of Adullam, and finally the king of Israel, the man after God’s own heart. It’s all because he trusted in the Lord.

When we think about our future, do we put God in our plan? Stop dreaming about things that are ‘in the air’, there are so many things we want to do, there are so many things we dream about, but are they all according to God’s plan for us? God wants us to ‘dwell in the land’, the place He appoints us, and breakthrough will come. Breakthrough does not come from ourselves, it comes from God, He is the God opening the way in the wilderness and a river in the desert. He can do the impossible and make us the top and not beneath, the head and not the tail.

What is the desire of our heart? To have a good paid job? To own a property? To have a marriage? To have children? Our flesh desires will never be fulfilled, when we receive something, we will always want more. But God is telling us today, He will fulfill us, not what we think we need, or what we think we want, but what our spirit and our soul is lacking. When God fills the desires of our heart and soul, then we will never feel we are lacking, and we can always be secure. That’s why it’s so important to pray in tongues, so we can pray about the things we don’t even know that we should be praying about. And God’s fulfilment will come, and we can be truly satisfied.

V5-6 Commit to God Completely, Miracles will Happen

“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.”

Do we believe in miracles? It doesn’t mean that we should not work hard, but to focus on what God has given to us, where He has appoints us, and miracles will happen in the place we have never imagined. We don’t need to open a way for ourselves, because God has already planned it all out for us, but He has His timing, and we must learn to commit our way to Him completely.
