Luke 10:38-42 – Take it Easy and Receive the Joy 路加福音 10:38-42 – 放輕鬆得喜樂

V38-39 The Lord’s Visit Brings Peace 神的造訪賜平安

“Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.”

「他們走路的時候，耶穌進了一個村莊。有一個女人名叫馬大，接他到自己家裡。 她有一個妹子名叫馬利亞，在耶穌腳前坐著聽他的道。」

Such a blessing that Jesus came to the village of Mary and Martha, it was unplanned and Jesus agreed. Jesus came to their house and started to preach the Word of God. He didn’t just go there to eat and to talk, but to preach the Word of God. Jesus brought the Gospel wherever He went. What about us? Do we also bring the Word of God with us wherever we go? We must not be like the people of the world, we are the chosen ones and we must bring peace to the people around us. People might say negative things to us, but we must reveal the Word of God.

We are the chosen ones, we are the royal priests and the holy nation. God called us to come out of the darkness and into the light. Wherever we go must have the light, but do we bring the light with us?

V40 Busyness Brings Complaint 過度忙碌生埋怨

“But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

「馬大伺候的事多，心裡忙亂，就進前來說：主啊，我的妹子留下我一個人伺候，你不在意嗎？請吩咐她來幫助我。」

Martha was so busy that she was distracted and disturbed. From her soul, body and spirit she was confused because of her busyness. It doesn’t mean that we should just not do anything, but we should not be over-tired and over-busy like Martha. She was complaining to Jesus and becoming self-pity. When we have self-pity then we will grow bitterness and controlling spirit. Martha even tried to control Jesus by asking Him to tell Mary to help her. We must know when to work and when to rest, so we can really enjoy the time we spend with Jesus not manipulating the Work of God.

Can we rest when it’s time to rest? We must know our limit and we must be sensitive to the teaching of God.

V41-42 The Good Part is to Choose God 上好的福分是選擇神

And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

「耶穌回答說：馬大，馬大，你為許多的事思慮煩擾， 但是不可少的只有一件。馬利亞已經選擇那上好的福分，是不能奪去的。」

Jesus knew Martha’s heart, He was not manipulated by her, instead He called her name and let her know that He cared about her. Martha was worried and troubled about many things. When we are doing many things, we will also feel worried, troubled, and disturbed, we will lose our joy. God wants to give us joy, but when we are over-busy, then we will unable to stay still and enjoy working with God.

There are still many things we need to tend to, but are we doing everything together with God? The good part is to be in God’s presence, to communicate with God, and to spend time with God. We must learn to stop, be still, and wait upon God. Let God talk to us and stay in God’s presence.
