Rev Daniel Xi An Poon

At the beginning of 2024, the world experienced many hardships. There are conflicts between the countries, there are accidents and disasters… as the one following God, we cannot lie to ourselves and we cannot lie to others. When the environment is difficult then we must admit it. This is not going to be an easy year, but we can definitely walk through all the troubles and trials. What attitude should we have to face this year? Through prophet Ezekiel, God is talking to His people.

God talked to His people, He gave teaching to the leaders. God wants His people to be quiet and wait. People don’t want to face their environment, they don’t believe that God will do something. The reality is cruel, the world puts us down, and it’s easy to doubt ourselves and to doubt God. The people at Ezekiel’s time were questioning God, why they were slaves to Babylon? Where was God when they were attacked by the enemy? People saw our hardship, they may judge us, intimate us, they may question our God and attack us by asking ‘where is your God?’

V11-12 God will Find Us 神必尋找

V11 “For thus says the Lord God: Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.” God knows our situations, we thought God doesn’t care, but He actually sees everything and knows everything about us. He is the ‘I Am Who I Am’ God, He will search for us, and He will look for us. We are not alone and God will save His sheep.

V12 “As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.” God will not only save us but He will also take us home. The world creates darkness in our surroundings, but God is the light, He is always there for us, He will definitely save us, and He is unwilling for us to stay in the darkness. He is our loving Father, let us wait upon Him quietness and believe that His blessings are on the way.

V13-15 God will Take Care of Us 神必看顧

V13 “And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country.” We thought we are being covered by the darkness of the world, we thought we are so low and so weak that God would not care. But God will find us, He will lead us out of the all people. Let God be God, let God do what He will do in our lives. Stop struggling and letting go to God. He will shepherd our sheep, He will take us to His green pastures.

V14 “ I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.” We are so used to our negative vibes, in the mountain of Israel, by the streams of water, God shows us His Promised Land, the land flowing with milk and honey. Do we believe God will make it happen? It’s never about what we do but to have hope and faith in God. To believe in His Word and His love for us. He will watch over us and take care of us, even when we are in a dark and difficult situation.

V15 “I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord God.” God will be our shepherd, He knows our difficulties, He will make us lie down a rest in Him. The world puts us down, but we can take it easy because God is with us. He is love and He will find us.

V16 God will Take Responsibility to the End 神必包底

V16 “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment.” God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He is our assurance and He will be responsible for us until the end. In our hardship and difficulties, He will find us. God will fight for us, who can be against us? He is the God of Heaven and earth, His Word is the promise in our lives, we can wait upon Him and cast away our worries.
