Luke 24:28-32

“Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. But they constrained Him, saying, Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And He went in to stay with them. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. And they said to one another, did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

Jesus was leaving a place and going to another place. He was following the One leading Him. So often we leave one place to go to another place, but are we really following the One called us? We follow but not fully obey, we go but we give ourselves excuses to turn back.

Luke 13:25-30

“When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open for us, and He will answer and say to you, I do not know you, where you are from, then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets. But He will say, I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.”

We must face our own spiritual situation, because if we don’t we may fall behind. Jesus is calling us today, He is talking to us and asking us to follow Him. How are we following Jesus? Do we only want Him

To fulfil our needs? Or can we follow His Will and let go of what we are holding onto? Do we go to where the Lord lead us to or do we only want the Lord to come to where we want to go?

Today is the day we follow Jesus’ calling, to completely leave the place we are comfortable with, to complete leave the way we are walking, and go forward to the way Jesus walks.
