Rev Daniel Xi An Poon
II Samuel 21:1-3, “Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. And the Lord answered, “It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites.” So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; the children of Israel had sworn protection to them, but Saul had sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah. Therefore David said to the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? And with what shall I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of the Lord?””
We face everyday with this attitude, so many things we don’t see as important, we feel that when we come across problems, we just resolve them. But what is the purpose of people when God created us? He did not create us to resolve problems, He created us to multiply and subdue the earth. But our lives seem to be full of problems that we must attend. There are even countries, who hired people to resolve problems they have! Joseph became the Prime Minister of Egypt, it’s not because he was solving the problems for Egypt, instead, he foreseen the problems and prevented it from happening. God created us to use our wisdom to manage the earth, not to solve problems after they happened.
God’s Will is for us to be ahead of problems, He has already given us the directions. God knew men were not good living by themselves, even though Adam didn’t think there was a problem at the time. But when God created Eve, we know that Adam’s life was changed. When we face things we cannot control, we will feel nervous and even afraid, but God’s Will for us is good and full of peace, we can learn this bless from the Bible.
- How to resolve when we face problems?
- How to choose when it’s not my fault?
