The Path of Blessings

There are a lot of ways we can choose to walk in our lives, but we must choose the path of blessings. God created us not for us to suffer but for us to receive blessings.

1. To Set Apart

Psalm 1:1-2 says, “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.”

There is no other way but to set apart ourselves for God. We must not listen to the advice of people who are against God. When we are facing challenges, it’s easy for us to seek advices from different people and from the internet. But Psalm 1 tells us today that we should not seek advice from those, who don’t accept God and who don’t believe in God.

Every day we face challenges and every day we have a lot of choices to make, who do we follow? We must be careful, there are a lot of grey areas, the world wants us to comprise with the status quo, but we must know that there is only one path to blessings, the path God appointed for us to walk. We should not stay with people, who don’t respect God and don’t believe in God. Because they may tempt us, we should not challenge our faith, and we should not put ourselves in the middle of the temptations.

When we choose to set our lives apart, we will also learn to obey and be humble. Do not think we can do everything by ourselves, we need to have covering. Our authority is there to cover us and to help us, furthermore when we submit under the authority, we learn to humble ourselves.

2. To Live Your Best Life

Psalm 1:3 says, He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

We should live like a tree, not like a pot plant. A pot plant will be moved from one place to the other, but the Bible wants us to be like a tree. The tree cannot be moved easily, it will stay in the ground, where it was planted. A pot plant will never grow bigger than its pot, but a tree can grow big and tall, in the place appointed to it. In Deuteronomy, God also wanted the Israelites to be at the place they were appointed that were chosen by God, so they could be blessed.

Since the pandemic, people tend to prefer meeting online instead of meeting in person. We worship online, pray online, and attend Sunday Services online. But this is not God’s intention, we cannot worship God and mammon at the same time. When we don’t come to church, we no longer believe in God but only in ourselves. Let us be like a tree, planted by the stream of water, then our leaves will not wither.

3. To Believe God Reigns

Psalm 1:4-6 says, “The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Do we believe God rules and reigns in our lives? God knows the path of the righteous, and He will walk with them. When we know God reigns, then we will not be afraid and we will not worry. Because God is with us, no one will be against us, and we are not alone. The world might show us the importance of money and treasures, but there is nothing we can take with us when we leave this world.

So don’t complain, don’t give up, and don’t backslide. Strive to move forward, to stand firm, and we keep going. The blessings and curses are lay out before us, it’s up to us to choose the path of blessings.
