We live a busy lifestyle and it’s a blessing to come to Morning Devotion every day. How to live a meaningful life? It’s easy for us to compare our lives with others, and when we compare, we will become fearful and we will lose faith. Moses was telling the second generation Israelites the secret of being blessed. 

What is being blessed? Is it to have everything we wished for? One of the true blessed people in the Bible was Jacob. Even though he was crippled, he was able to walk with God and live in God’s grace all his life. The Israelites coming out from Egypt were blessed, because they walked with God, and Moses revealed this blessing to them and to Joshua. And Joshua learnt this lesson, he had an encounter with the messenger of God before the battle of Jericho, and he had the faith to win the battle.

A blessed life is a life walking with God. How can we walk with God? How can we ensure that God walks with us? When we are fearful, we don’t really know that God is with us, and when we are prideful, we don’t really think that God is with us.

Section One V1-5 Do Not be Self-Righteous 

What’s in our heart? Do not think that we’re better than others, and do not think that we’re better than God. When we are self-righteous, we will soon walk astray from the path of God, and God will no longer able to walk with us.

Section Two V6-18 To Know Ourselves

What was Moses telling the Israelites? That the teaching was not only for the Israelites but also for Moses himself! Through all this time, Moses was disciplining the Israelites just as how God was disciplining him. Moses was getting to know himself while leading the Israelites all these years. 

Do we really know ourselves? Do we see that everything we do was for God? Do we use God’s ways to do the work of God or do we use our own ways? We thought we are being faithful to God, but we are actually doing everything for ourselves.

Section Three V19-29 To Live Out the Tree of Life

Do not live in the ‘doing’ mode, even Moses was in a ‘doing’ mode. We thought everything we were doing was right, and we used our old ways to deal with our new problems. Moses finally understood when he humbled himself and prayed, that he was only a messenger and a servant of God.

Why can’t we receive blessings? Because we don’t understand the secret of being blessed. We thought it was God’s problem, and we thought it was other people’s problem. But we don’t know that God’s intention for us was always good, it was our pride and fear that stop us receiving the blessings. 

Do not live in fear, in shame or in disappointment, God wants us to be lifted up. God wants us to shine for Him. Be humble and be truthful in front of God.

申命记 9 – 蒙福的秘诀

我们很容易将自己跟别人比较，看见别人多么成功、幸福，而自己很失败、孤单。比较让我们害怕、失去信心、盼望、和起初的爱心。老摩西跟蒙召的第二代教导蒙福的秘诀。世人眼中的“有福”就是钱财富足、身体健康、凡事顺利，但在神眼中，蒙福就是与神同行。在忙碌的生活中能够来晨祷的人是有福的！我们害怕的时候，就会离开蒙福，无法与神同行。惧怕让我们不觉得神在我们身边，骄傲让我们以为神不会计较我们所做的事。

一、v.1-11 不要自义

以色列人并非因为自己做得好才能得地为业，而是迦南人因为已经恶贯满盈才被神赶出去。以色列百姓其实也是“硬着颈项的”。神提醒我们不要自以为义。

二、v.12-18 要认识自己

摩西用自己的生命来教导这些百姓。神不仅修剪以色列人，也在修剪摩西。当神在提醒摩西这群百姓是“你……领出来的”时候，摩西的第一反应就是在愤怒中想要赶快解决问题。我们做很多事，以为这是神要我们做的，慢慢就将这些事“据为己有”，于是在做事的过程中充满情绪。摩西所摔的法版是属于神和全以色列百姓的，他没有按照神的方式去带领以色列人，却用自己的方法来处理。我们是否也在为自己做事情却全然不知？

V18 摩西当时还处在分辨善恶树下，用doing的模式来面对神的怒气。

三、v.19-29 要活出生命树

V19-21 当神要处理亚伦的时候，摩西谦卑顺服、舍己利他，为亚伦祷告祈求。

V25-26 同样是祷告，摩西明白这群百姓不是自己带领的，而是彻底谦卑、卸下自己的一切功劳，承认都是神的大能和救恩。

V29 我们在祝福的门前打转，因为我们不明白蒙福的秘诀。我们以为问题出在别人身上，然而当我们活出生命树的气息时，蒙福就会追着我们跑。神要在万民面前高举我们，让世人看见，只要跟从神就有福了。我们要彻底的谦卑顺服、舍己利他，将里面的一切害怕都交给神，因我们一生的果效都在神手里。让我们谦卑自己，活在神的真理里，尊主为大。
